Types of excavator

Crawler excavator. Stable on soft and uneven ground, with high breakout force. The basic machine for large earthworks, mining and quarrying.

Wheeled excavator. Travels on paved roads under its own power; speeds up moves between sites in municipal, infrastructure and urban work.

Mini excavator. Suitable for confined areas, gardening and landscaping, indoor demolition and utility connections. Being transportable on a small truck is an important advantage.

Selection criteria

• Weight class: The volume of work and the loading height of the trucks determine the weight class. A machine that is too large wastes fuel; one that is too small wastes time.
• Bucket and attachments: General-purpose, rock and grading buckets, and attachments such as hydraulic breakers and drills, widen the range of use. MOTTO sells FINE hydraulic breakers and Exca Drill drilling attachments and supplies their spare parts.
• Hydraulic piping: If a breaker or another attachment will be used, the auxiliary hydraulic line should be included in the order from the start.
• Service and parts access: Access to parts and service for the brand in the country of operation determines the true cost of the machine. That is why we make our brand recommendation according to the customer’s country.
• Working conditions: Hot climate, dusty environment and fuel quality affect the choice of cooling package, pre-filter and engine.

New or used?

A new machine offers long-term use and the benefit of warranty. A used excavator suits those who want quick delivery and a lower investment to get started. On used machines we check working hours, undercarriage wear, hydraulic leaks and boom/arm cracks, and share condition information with photographs.

Spare parts and consumables

We recommend planning a filter kit, bucket teeth, hydraulic hoses and undercarriage parts together with the excavator. On remote sites, a lack of these parts can stop the machine for days. Sending the parts in the same shipment as the machine also lowers logistics cost.
